How We Met

10.7.2017

Brock and I met after a Bobcat Football game. I was tending bar and he was just another guy getting a drink.... that is, until our eyes locked and he gave me that million dollar smile. We kept catching each others eyes the rest of the night. Looking at one another, blushing, then turning away. After we played this game for and quite some time he finally introduced himself. We ended up talking all night long until I made him go home (I mean... I was suppose to be working). I convinced him to leave by walking him to his friend's truck and gave him a quick kiss as I pushed his door shut. I turned and ran back inside the bar before he could say anything. Ten seconds after I got inside the bar I found a flushed Brock racing back inside the bar after me. Oh yes, he was hooked and so was I. He followed up with a text on Monday asking me out on a date the following weekend on October 14, 2017.

First Date

October 14, 2017

Brock lived in Choteau at the time and I was finishing up Engineering school in Bozeman. He drove all the way from Choteau and picked me up....only to do more driving. He took me to La Hood in Cardwell Montana for a nice steak dinner. At dinner neither of us could eat our steak because we were too infatuated and shy with each other. After dinner we went to loosen up at the Pony Bar. We played a game of pool...Brock didn't let me win (what do ya know). After my sore defeat I told him about the Potosi hot springs that were near by and away we went. For those of you that don't know Brock, he is a Montana boy through and through. On our way to the hot springs he proved that he was a Montana boy by stopping abruptly in the middle of a dirt road to pull a pistol out of his center console of his truck and tried to shoot a skunk (key word "try"). We finally found Potosi hot springs on a whim. Which consisted of little directions, faith, and a pick up truck that wasn't afraid of getting stuck or wet (had to drive through a creek). The rest of the night consisted of sitting in slightly warm water, star gazing and falling madly in love with each other. The following day Brock had to go to Spokane to buy a sled deck for his truck. And me being love struck decided it was a good idea to skip out on homework and do a 12 hour drive with some guy I had just met (sorry not sorry mom). The only way I would go to Spokane was if Brock promised to take me to the Manito Park to see its beautiful gardens. Who knew Manito Park would end up meaning so much. It was where our first picture taken and where Brock would propose two years later.

Proposal

October 12, 2019

Brock and I had always anticipated going back to Manito Park. I probably asked him a 100 times. Our 2 year anniversary seemed like a reason to go back. I told Brock he. needed to plan this anniversary. No asking me where I'd like to eat or stay, he needed to make the game plan. Little did I know he was about to propose. And propose in the most amazing way I might add. Our day started by Brock trying to rush me out the door. Saying we got to go and my not thinking anything of it. Our first stop was to grab lunch on the river. In full fall bloom the surroundings were breathtaking. Next stop was Manito Park. I was so excited to be back even though Spokane just got 6 inches of snow I was determined all the flowers wouldn't be dead. I was mostly wrong. I wanted to cry when we got there, everything was destroyed, tree limbs strewn about... it was a mess. That is until we went back to our spot. The place we took our first picture together, in the Japanese Gardens. These gardens were shades of greens, yellows, reds and oranges a beautiful portrayal of fall. Brock let me take pictures, trying to get the best one but there were too many people there. Then all of a sudden everyone left and I told Brock we need to take our picture while there isn't anyone here. He then grabbed my hand and led me back to the very same spot we took our first picture and he got down on one knee. I made sure he wasn't joking then I started to cry. I was so confused and surprised, anxious by the whole thing I remembered only bits and pieces of his incredible speech. "Brock loves me" was the only thing that kept replaying in my head. After I said yes. More magic began to unfold. Brock took us back to the Coeur D' Alene Resort to check in. The room was filled with flowers and wine. This was then followed by dinner reservations at an incredible place over looking the lake. We went out on the town after telling everyone we just got engaged. We danced the rest of the night away. It was perfect.
