We kindly ask all guests to put their phones away and on silent for the entire ceremony. Our officiant will also provide a quick reminder to all guests before the ceremony begins. We have a fantastic photographer for the event who will capture our day and our ceremony. She also takes photos of guests during the ceremony along with photos from the back of the aisle...so again, just best to keep all phones away. There will be so many opportunities to take photos during the wedding, but the ceremony is strictly not one of them. Thank you for honoring our wishes!
When RSVP-ing to the wedding, there will be a list of how many seats are reserved for you. Please reach out to Katrina or Nick with any questions. Thanks!
We will not be providing a shuttle to/from the hotels simply because the venue is very close to most of the hotels in downtown Blacksburg. It is a college town, so almost everything is walkable or a very short drive.
The dress code is formal garden attire which means dress for a bright and summery event, think bright blue, green, pink, orange, and florals! Gentleman, it will be late May and it can get toasty so short-sleeved dress shirts and light-colored suits would be more than fine! Some attire inspo for you: https://pin.it/2VD553Dxc We kindly ask you do not wear black.
The ceremony will be outdoors in the garden and the reception will be held under a pavilion outdoors. The pavilion has fans, is well shaded, and restrooms are nearby.
Absolutely.
We are trying to field a lot of questions on this website so please refer to the FAQ page before reaching out to Nick or Katrina for a wedding-related question. We will continue to update this page.
We will be serving BBQ.
Yup! Refer to the "travel" tab.
Please look at the "details" card that came with your invitation. There is a detailed parking map on the back. If that is not on hand, we recommend Coliseum Lot. Please don't park at Hahn Horticulture Garden.
At 10:30 PM Katrina and Nick will be sent off and shuttled downtown Blacksburg to the bar "Sharkeys" for the rest of the evening. The shuttle will return to the venue and continue making rounds until 11:30 PM. From 11:30 PM to 12:30 AM the shuttle will take people back to The Inn at Virginia Tech/Skelton Conference Center. If you do not plan on drinking but would like to continue celebrating with the bride and groom, you are welcome to drive downtown- there is a parking lot behind Sharkeys and plenty of street parking and very easy walking distance. NOTE: If you plan on drinking and taking the shuttle downtown without a plan for a sober driver, you will need to retrieve your car from the venue Sunday morning.
