Riverdogs Baseball Game

Go to "The Joe" stadium and see the Riverdogs play! They are a minor league team and class-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. More importantly, they have some funky food choices and good local beers! *Fun fact: Bill Murray is a co-owner of the Riverdogs Baseball team!*

Angel Oak Tree

The Angel Oak is a southern oak that is estimated to be 400-500 years old. It's a little ways out there in Johns Island, but it is FREE to view! A good stop on the way to the Firefly Distillery on Wadmalaw Island!

Firefly Distillery

Firefly Distillery is South Carolina's largest distillery and makers of the World's first Sweet Tea Vodka. Sample several different flavored vodkas, some whiskeys, and even moonshine.

Waterfront Park & the Pineapple Fountain

Take a stroll around downtown - start at The Battery (*free 2 hour parking!), walk along the seawall, see "Rainbow Row" houses, and then head over to Waterfront Park!

Fort Sumter

Take a boat out to Fort Sumter to explore the grounds and see where the Civil War began!

Historic Charleston City Market

The City Market is a historic market in downtown Charleston that was established in the 1790's. Today, you can buy sweetgrass baskets, jewelry, artwork, sweets, and other locally made souvenirs.

Boone Hall Plantation

There are many plantations around the Charleston area, but Boone Hall Plantation is my favorite. Take a tour of the house, watch a Gullah or slave history presentation, see the cotton fields, and walk through the Avenue of the Oaks! This plantation has been a filming location for several movies, including The Notebook! ;)

Saltwater Cycle

Similar to Nashville’s party bike tour, but on the water!

Palmetto Breeze Sailing Charters

Take a two-hour evening cruise on a catamaran! Our favorite day of the week to go is Tuesday because they have “Two for Tuesday” tickets! ($40 for two tickets instead of $40 each.) There’s also a cash bar on the boat! *Go to Red’s Ice House dock to board the Palmetto Breeze*

South Carolina Aquarium

Rainy day? Head to the aquarium!

One of Scott’s favorite breweries, with quirky handyman names for good local beers.

Westbrook Brewing Company

If you like Gose beers, Westbrook is where you go! Katie’s favorite is the traditional sour Gose, but also likes the Lemon Cucumber Gose and the Key Lime Pie Gose. Scott loves the One Claw IPA. They have SO many unique flavors. The location is a little far out there, but it’s worth the trip!

Folly Beach

This is our local beach, less than five miles from our house! If you want a more secluded spot, take a left off of Center street and drive down to at least 6th Street. If you want bathrooms and frozen drinks on the patio, go to the Tides area (Blu bar is a part of Tides). Good lunch spots on Folly- Jack of Cups, Chico Feo (don’t judge it by its appearance, haha), and Taco Boy!

Sullivan's Island

This is the beach you go to get away from the tourists! Sullivan’s Island is a cute little town with some great restaurants (Poe’s for burgers, 450 Pizza Joint, Home Team BBQ for Southern, Republic Ice Cream for soft ice cream!!) and a bigger, more secluded beach.

Callie's Hot Little Biscuit

A little shop with big taste. A great place for a little southern breakfast!

Zia Taqueria

Katie’s favorite place for some good frozen & on the rocks margaritas (happy hour starts at 4pm!) and fresh Mexican food! Our old-school movie theater is just two doors down, too!

Stella's

Katie’s fav- traditional Greek food! Saganaki - cheese lit on fire. Enough said. Oh, and a great happy hour deal (if you sit at the bar)!

Halls Chophouse

Our favorite place to have a steak. Always amazing service and delicious food! Try the lobster mac and cheese, too!

Bowens Island Restaurant

A casual seafood place with local oysters, shrimp, crab cakes, fish, etc., and close to Folly Beach!

Brown Dog Deli

A great lunch spot downtown with lots of sandwiches, wraps, hotdogs, and local beers!

The Darling Oyster Bar

Katie’s favorite place for a Bloody Mary! Get “The Captain” for a drink and meal in one. ;) Awesome seafood, too!

Leon's

It might be called an oyster shop (and they’re delicious), but our favorite is the Leon’s fish fry plate or the fried chicken sandwich! If it’s not bathing suit season, go ahead and get a side of the scalloped potatoes or the soft ice cream for dessert!

USS Yorktown CV-10

If you’re a history buff, take a walk onto the USS Yorktown and learn about its past. Go up onto the flight deck to see aircraft carriers and some great views of Charleston!
