The Beginning

The clinic I work for was having trouble. Our providers need imaging in the patients chart for appointments to appropriately diagnose and treat. We were failing at this. My manager spoke to me and we decided their must be a way to resolve this problem. She reached out to the manager of imaging at the hospital. A workgroup was created. I was volunteered as the representative for our clinic. The first meeting went well. The second meeting went well too. However, as the imaging lead and manager sat across from me, I asked if i could nust reach out to one of them directly each time there was an issue. Immediately the lead responded with “I’ll just have you message [on our work messenger system] one of our guys. He can be your contact. If the problem is such that he can’t fix it, I’ll do it. But he’s good.” I asked for his name to add to my notes. She said “it’s Justin, but I can never remember his last name. I’ll send it to you when I get back to my desk.” Fast forward several months, I receive a disc from a patient. I had no idea how to get the images into the patient’s chart. What did I do? I sent a message to Justin, which started with me informing him of my lack of knowledge with technology. I told him we have a disc and need images in chart since patient was in office, but I didnt know if it was even possible to get from point A to point B. He told me to bring the disc over and he’d load it. I walked to the hospital, down a hallway, and found a small sliding window with a smilimg face ready to resolve another issue. Simple fix. Crisis averted. Little did anyone know that that initial contact suggestion would lead to so many adventures. And so many discs to the window.

Some Adventures

We’ve done a lot the past couple years! Undoubtedly, the hardest days were dealing with my three old kitties. He had barely met Carmel before she passed at the age of 14. Over the next 22 months, I made gut wrenching decisions about Mocha and Garfield, but ultimately they each lost the battles as well. Mocha was 15 and Garfield just shy of 17. Justin was by my side for each moment. We’ve since adopted two new kitties, Mew and Celebi. They are joys in our lives!! We’ve also camped in a yurt with crazy raccoons! They stole my marshmallows. If you haven’t heard this story, please ask Justin some time. We’ve hiked mountains that we weren’t sure we’d finish. But, boy, were we happy we did! We’ve kayaked in the Sound and ridden horses in the mountains! But, our biggest adventure is raising our two girls together! They are funny, sneaky, kind, and loveable!
