The campus is renowned for its beauty, featuring red-brick buildings, tree-lined walkways and historic landmarks such as the Lyceum and the Grove! Rowan Oak is the historic home of Nobel Prize-winning author William Faulkner. Built in 1844 and purchased by Faulkner in 1930, the house served as his residence until his death in 1962. Now owned and maintained by the University of Mississippi, Rowan Oak is open to the public year-round, offering a glimpse into Faulkner's life and creative environment.
Square Books is a general independent bookstore in three separate buildings (about 100 feet apart) on the historic town square of Oxford. The main store, Square Books, is in a two-story building with a cafe and balcony on the second floor; Off Square Books is a few doors down from the main store and has lifestyle sections such as gardening and cookbooks; Square Books, Jr., the children's bookstore, is in a building on the east side of the square; above it (in the site of the original bookstore) is the more recently opened Rare Square Books, which feature collectible, vintage, first edition books.
The End of All Music is an independent record store tucked upstairs in the historic Duvall's building, right on the Oxford Square. Since opening in 2012, it has become a haven for music enthusiasts as they carry an extensive selection of new and used vinyl that spans genres.
Big Bad Breakfast is surely the best breakfast in town! "BBB" is a quaint cafe devoted to breakfast that serves creative twists on breakfast classics, house-cured bacon & more. It is the perfect place for you to gather together and to fuel up for the coming day!
Hand Tossed Pizza, Grill Food, Pasta Specials, Salads, and more! Proud Larry's is also a renowned live music venue and has been an Oxford staple for over 20 years. This is one of our go-to restaurants on The Square! Zach and I love their pizza, Philly cheesesteak sandwich, and chicken fajita salad!
If you're looking for Greek food in Oxford, Volta Taverna is our favorite one in town! Volta is a low-key eatery in a converted gas station serving Greek-style pizza, wraps & more, plus a full bar. Zach and I highly recommend the Hotty Toddy Balls, the Bruce Lee wrap, and their famous margaritas!
Funkys Pizza & Daiquiri Bar is a New Orleans-style bar known for its pizzas and vibrant daiquiris. It has become a popular spot for Ole Miss fans and visitors, offering a lively atmosphere and a menu that includes specialty pizzas like the "Frat Boy" and "Sorority Girl."
Lenora's Restaurant blends Southern charm with upscale dining, offering a seasonal menu crafted from delicious ingredients. With its warm ambiance and carefully curated wine list, Lenora’s is the perfect spot for a nice dinner. Zach and I recommend their barbecue shrimp as an appetizer!
Since 1997, Ajax Diner has been serving Oxford’s finest southern comfort food! Ajax has been voted Oxford’s best plate lunch every year since opening and has made it on Southern Living’s list of The South’s Most Legendary Restaurants! Where else can you get a country-fried steak sandwich topped with butter beans, mashed potatoes, and gravy? Zach and I love The Big Easy, their chicken and dumplings, and their margaritas!
