It’s finally happening!

We met almost 7 years ago while I was still waitressing at Applebee’s. Brent was working his first job out of town and it brought him all the way from Oklahoma to State College, PA. He came in for lunch and he was my last table of the day. I considered handing the table off to the next server coming on, but I saw him sit down and thought “Nope! I definitely need to take this table!”. Brent ordered a Dr. Pepper which we didn’t have, but me being the skilled and crafty person that I am, I made him one by mixing two other drinks together and that was it. I won him over with a soda! We talked about the State College night life and I told him if he needed a group of friends to tag along with or if he wanted to explore, that I would be happy to show him around. I wrote my number on a napkin and gave it to him and when he left, he didn’t even make it to the parking lot before texting me! We went on our first date that night at RJ’s in Philipsburg, of all places! We have been inseparable ever since and made our relationship work through 4 years of long distance, me finishing nursing school, him traveling to a different state almost every month and so much more and now we live together happily in Murfreesboro, TN right outside of Nashville and we finally get to get married and have our long awaited special day!

Brent & I went to Hiawassee, Georgia for the weekend with our good friends Brad & Bridget and their kids. Bridget's dad owns the cutest cabin there that sits right on the water and just a few feet away from some small waterfalls and a swimming hole. It's beautiful and one of the coolest places I've ever been! On Saturday we had planned to visit a nearby waterfall, but the drive there turned out to be pretty traumatic for all of us. There was only one lane up and down the mountain to get to the top of the waterfall and as we were driving up, tons of other cars were trying to come back down, so we were forced to back up the whole way down a steep mountain side. At this point, all of us had extreme anxiety and we were ready to just head back to the smaller waterfalls by the cabin haha! Meanwhile, Brent had planned to propose at the waterfall we were trying to get to and his plan was slowly crumbling. We got back to the cabin and we headed down to the water to go swimming at the falls on the other side of the river. Brent had to cross the waist deep water with the ring in his pocket all while making sure I didn't notice what he was up to! Once we made it across and to the falls, Bridget said "Let me take a picture of you two!". This is when I should have been suspicious because, Brent was all too willing to jump in the picture and typically he tries to avoid all photos ops. Then, all of the sudden he was getting down on one knee and my heart actually quit beating! After 6 years I was finally being asked the one question I had known the answer to since the day we met. It was the most special moment and the most special day and even though it didn't go quite as planned, it fits us and our story perfectly and I know this is exactly the way it was always meant to be. Now, I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend as his wife and I couldn't be more excited for everything coming our way from here on out!
