Casey and I met back in 2021. I had moved to Greenville after graduating college in 2020 and Casey had moved to Greenville in 2019 to live with his sister, Courtney. During the summer of 2021, Megan Brubaker and I had gotten really into line dancing and ended up meeting Joseph Nimmons at the Blind Horse one night. Nimmons and I started talking about the cars we drove. He had a Ford Focus RS and I told him about my family's Subaru STI. He then told me about his two friends Brad and Casey who, at the time, drove a Subara WRX and a Honda Civic Si, respectively. The four of us became a little car group, Shmeegie Gang! By January of 2022, Casey and I figured out we liked each other a little more than friends and on April 8th while in Sedona, Casey asked me to officially be his girlfriend. A month later we took our first trip to Pawleys Island together to visit his mom and stepdad. A month after that, we traveled to Boston with Alex and Natalie for our friend, Sarah Rumpf's wedding. Two weeks after that, we drove up to New York for Casey's stepbrother's graduation, his father's retirement party, and my first time meeting his dad's side of the family. We took a little break from traveling that fall while Casey bought and renovated his house. Casey visited my family in Chicago with me for the first time that December for Christmas. April of 2023 we spent our 1 year dating anniversary in Hawaii visiting our friend Zach. In May we went back to Chicago for Natalie and Alex's beautiful wedding. June started my adventure of travel nursing in Atlanta and the many weekends of driving back and forth to see each other. During this time, Casey and I would have fun outings with Lauren and Josh Casillas. In August we took another trip to Pawleys, and then visited his dad and stepmom in New York in September. During the month of August, Casey and I started having weekly chats with my Uncle Jack on the subject of marriage and how important Jesus is in our lives. Casey and I had been visiting churches together in the Greenville area and picked Grace Church downtown as our church to grow in together. Through our conversations with Uncle Jack and while doing a Bible study with Josh Casillas, Casey came to know Jesus personally. It was such an answer to prayer and I'm so thankful for all the people in our life that poured into Casey and prayed for him. December of 2023 we spent a few days in Pawleys for Christmas with Casey's mom's side of the family and then spent the week of Christmas with my family in Chicago. April 8th of 2024 was a pretty special day. Casey and I were in Sedona with his mom and stepdad on vacation and were celebrating our 2 year dating anniversary. That afternoon, the four of us decided to hike Broken Arrow Trail (my favorite one in Sedona). Casey kept asking while we were hiking, "Are we there yet?" and I was just vibing with the scenery. At the end of the trail, Chicken Point, his mom told Casey and I to go stand and take a picture in between tour groups being there. Casey said he wanted us to stand back-to-back to take a "sassy" picture. I thought it was silly but did it anyways. Next thing I knew, I heard Casey say my name and turned around and saw him on one knee with the most beautiful, sparkly ring! In June of 2024 I finished my 1 year of travel nursing in Atlanta and started a new staff job at Pelham Medical Center as the charge nurse of the ORs. Casey currently works at Yard House in Greenville and has been promoted to a Service Professional. We cannot wait to start our life together!
