The Shining Sea Bikeway hugs the coast from Falmouth to Woods Hole and then beyond to North Falmouth, winding along the Vineyard Sound shoreline. Ideal for casual and beginner cyclists, it was built on a former railroad right-of-way. The paved path is level for nearly its entire 10.7-mile distance with only a slight grade in certain spots.

The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution is a world-renowned marine research center located in Woods Hole, MA. Founded in 1930, the institution has played a leading role in many of the most important discoveries about the ocean and its inhabitants. The WHOI offers tours of its facilities to the public and is home to the world’s largest privately owned fleet of research vessels. The institution also operates a marine mammal rescue program and is dedicated to ocean conservation.

The Marine Biological Laboratory is an international center for research and education in biological and environmental science. The MBL is open to the public and offers tours where you can learn more through their exhibit center and purchase souvenirs from their gift shop!
