The Bride: The night we met started as a girls night...naturally. After what seemed like centuries of school, Summer 2015 and Summer 2016 was all about making up for lost time. Wherever there was something happening, me, Kam, and Alyse were in the building. This particular night, me, Kamilah, and Alyse decided we were going to get really cute, go to dinner at Cantina Loredos (a cute little Mexican spot in Clayton), then see where the night took us. So after dinner, we ended up at a spot not too far from the restaurant. After suffering through some horrible music for about 30 minutes, Kamilah decided we needed to leave and make our way to the city where we could have some real fun. We ended up at Mood Lounge in St. Louis. Within 10 minutes of being there, a guy approached our table (an unnamed groomsman), trying to make some new friends. Not too long after, he was introducing his friend “Sala” to us. That night Sala seemed really reserved, not really chatty, and I was drawn to how laid back he was/seemed. We talked, had a few drinks, and he asked for my number. A couple days later, we went out for Mexican (my favorite!—a recurring theme in our relationship), and that was it. He was officially my newest partner in crime. We were together all the time, picnicking at forest park, brunching, swimming, roof-toping, happy hours, working-out. I just loved being around him—he made even boring things fun. Within 2 weeks of us meeting, I had already met his dad, 2 of his sisters, 1 of his brothers, 3 of his nieces, 1 of his nephews. By week 2: I knew it was the beginning of something special…
The Groom: After two years of dating, highs and lows, ups and downs, I realized what I already knew, that I don't want to live without her. In early April, I went ring shopping to find a ring that I hoped could match her beauty. Saturday April 14th, I got up early morning, and drove to Mrs. Richardson’s house to ask for her blessing for my proposal of marriage. After a wonderful conversation, Mrs. Richardson gave me her blessing. We were flying out to Mexico (Riviera Maya) the next day, so I called the resort to ask for a camera man and videographer to be present beach-side for dinner at 7p.m sharp as I wanted to propose as the sunset. I guess a surprise to none, the videographer was late. I tried to delay as if this was the line to the restaurant, but I couldn't delay anymore. I found a waitress from the ocean side restaurant to video tape my proposal as the sun began to fade behind us. After a lot of tears she said yes. If you are guessing, you guessed right--30 seconds later the videograpgher came and we got some great shots of the evening.
