Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Spring year-round! Guatemala enjoys weather in the 70's and 80's throughout the year. You can expect: Warm daytime temperatures: around 24–28°C (75–82°F) Mild evenings: around 18–20°C (64–68°F) We recommend bringing light, breathable clothing, a light jacket or wrap for the evenings, and a small umbrella just in case. Comfortable shoes are also ideal for walking on Antigua’s cobblestone streets. Overall, December is a lovely time to visit — warm, lush, and vibrant!

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Please see our schedule for the dress code.

Question

Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Our wedding ceremony is outdoors and wedding reception will be indoors.

Question

What kind of shoes should/shouldn't I wear?

Answer

Calling all ladies! Do not wear stiletto heels. There are grassy/dirt areas that you might have to walk in so we recommend wear chunky heels.

Question

Is it okay to take pictures with our phones and cameras during the wedding?

Answer

We would love for you to take photos and share them with us during the reception. However, we invite you to be fully present with us during our ceremony. Please keep phones and cameras away and enjoy this moment unplugged.

Whom should I call with questions?

Answer

Please get in touch with our planning team: weddings@sparksevents.com.gt

Question

What is the currency in Guatemala?

Answer

Guatemala's currency is the Quetzal (Q). While you could still use dollars (USD), we recommend that you exchange your dollars in Banks in Antigua Guatemala, or in the Currency-Exchange office at the airport. We used our credit card without foreign transaction fees during our visit. Credit cards are accepted at restaurants and hotels. The currency may vary by the time of your visit, but the rate of exchange currently is $1 = $7.82 Q. We recommend you exchange $100 USD for the trip for souvenirs and entrance to museums. Please make sure to bring crisp, new bills.

Question

What is the tipping culture?

Answer

You don't have to; it isn't customary. In restaurants, 10% is automatically included. At the hotel, at your discretion. You can tip the bell hop and other staff.

Question

Is Antigua safe?

Answer

Antigua and Panajachel (Lake Atitlan) are very safe but always use common sense. Antigua/Lake Atitlan are tourist destinations and very popular for destination weddings. Just like any major city, Guatemala City does have crime. Use common sense and stay aware of your surroundings.
