Cape Cod National Seashore is a 43,600-acre federally protected park in Massachusetts established in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy. It features 40 miles of sandy beaches, marshes, ponds, and uplands along the Atlantic Ocean. Some of my favorite spots are Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Light Beach, both of which are about 30 minutes from our venue.
The Cape Cod Rail Trail is a paved, 25.5 to 27.5-mile, mostly flat, multi-use path spanning from South Yarmouth to Wellfleet, ideal for cycling through salt marshes, pine forests, and cranberry bogs. I highly recommend renting bikes and exploring the Cape Cod towns along the trail.
Chatham Center is a charming, affluent, and historic seaside town known for its walkable Main Street, boutique shopping, and vibrant culinary scene. It offers a sophisticated, maritime atmosphere featuring the iconic Chatham Lighthouse (and our church!)
Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge protects habitats critical to the survival of migratory shorebirds, horseshoe crabs, tiger beetles, gray seals, and other coastal wildlife. The refuge also includes the Monomoy Wilderness, protecting its unique character while providing an opportunity for the public to experience the beauty and resources this place provides.
Monomoy Island Excursions offers narrated high-speed catamaran rides around the beautiful island of Monomoy. During the ride, you can expect to see hundreds of seals and maybe even a great white shark. Reservations highly recommended.
Sail to the island of Nantucket directly from Harwich Port on Freedom Cruise Line. You’ll need a full day to explore Nantucket, but, if you have the time, I highly recommend the Sconset Bluff Walk, Cisco Brewers, and The Juice Bar.
