Katie and I met in college where we quickly became good friends. But for me, I always thought there was more of an attraction or at least I hoped. Throughout college and after graduation I would always keep in contact with Katie, some may call it "creeping" but I would call it staying relevant so she wouldn't forget about me. I stayed relevant for a whole 10 years until the first wave of covid came around, I noticed through social media that Katie was home in South Jersey and I reached out and proposed the idea of her coming out on my boat. She denied me. The following weekend to my surpise she actually reached out to me and demanded that she was definitely coming next time. The following weekend rolled around and sure enough Katie showed up all by herself ready to go out on the boat. Little did she know she would be meeting 10+ of my friends and family. I begged all of them ahead of time that she was just a friend and please don’t be weird. Next thing you know my sister in law is making her try on her engagement ring to see how it feels and people are telling me to marry her that day. We hit it off just like we did in college and it just felt right. The following weekend we went on our first date and I never looked back.
It was just our typical Friday down the shore working from home and planning for our weekend...or so I thought! On Friday's in the summer its pretty normal for Guy and I to take the jetskis out and would sometimes stop at Island Beach State Park for a walk on the beach. Everything seemed like a normal summer Friday for me, until it turned into the BEST DAY EVER. After we finished up work we got on the jetskis and rode over to IBSP and took our typical walk on the beach. We eventually made our way down to the beach and I started heading to the water. That's when Guy grabbed my hand and pulled me back and got down on one knee! Guy had a drone and photographer set up for us and for everyone who saw the footage can tell I was in absolute shock! I knew from the moment Guy and I started dating that I was going to marry him, it just clicked and it was one of those "oh wow its been you all this time" kind of things. But in that moment, him down on one knee and asking me to spend the rest of my life with him...it was just so surreal. June 10th 2022 is and will always be one of the best days of our lives but I cannot wait to see what the future holds and to celebrate our wedding with everyone in August 2023!
