How We Got Together

An Investment to be Thankful For

How We Got Together Craig and my stories on how we got together tend to vary, but this is my story and I'm sticking with it! ;) Craig and I originally met serving tables high in the mountains at the beautiful Castaway Restaurant in Burbank, California. Craig caught my eye right from the start; he was always so gracious and personable with every one of his guests super funny, and obviously super cute. I spent a lot of time getting ready for those shifts that Craig and I worked together, but it hardly seemed like work between all the laughing and the flirting, and him always bringing a little extra dinner to share with me. The whole staff had to work Thanksgiving and after a long, hard shift we headed to the local Billiards hall to play pool with our coworkers. Craig and I partnered up and Craig bet $60 on the game. I playfully told Craig that if we won, I’d let him kiss me. Needless to say, we didn’t finish the game and we lost $60, but I'd say it was a win and a lifetime investment. Craig and I were inseparable ever since. He told me he'd take me on a date, but on one condition: I couldn't wear heels. He wanted it to be comfortable and casual. So I obliged and we spent 4 hours in a dive bar talking the night away. I asked him to take me on another date on the condition that I COULD wear heels. He obliged and took me to the magnificent rooftop at The Perch LA. Craig asked me to be his girlfriend on New Years Eve while on shift at the Castaway sneaking champagne and a New Year's kiss. I knew Craig was the one for me the first night as he walked me home from the car on our first date because I did NOT want to separate from him and that feeling has not gone away. Craig plays into my silliness, supports me in all my endeavors and loves me unconditionally. We enjoy talking in crazy voices, working out, eating pizza and being each other's best friend. Can't wait to continue into forever.

The Proposal

August 2, 2020

Katheryn and I both enjoy physical activities. Whether its exercising at the gym, going on hikes, or throwing the frisbee around; being physically active is definitely an attribute we both love. There are an infinite number of creative ways to go about proposing to your significant other, however, many of the ideas I had envisioned were simply unattainable due to restrictions that were in place at the time due to COVID-19. An attribute I definitely wanted to include in the proposal was the element of surprise. At the time all our local gyms and recreational parks were closed so the thought of taking her on a hike wasn’t something out of the norm. This provided the perfect opportunity to carry out the proposal in a surprising manner. The destination I chose was along one of the many peaks that can be accessed through the Rocky Peak Trails. This particular peak is somewhat hidden and offers a spectacular view of the San Fernando Valley. Not only are the views breathtaking, but this trail was one of the very first hikes I took Katheryn on when we initially started dating. Once we reached the peak, we took some time to rest and admire the scenery. As Katheryn gazed at the view ahead, I was kneeling behind her with the engagement ring. “We have conquered many mountain peaks in our years together and I can’t wait to conquer all the peaks that await us in the years to come…” This trail has always been a favorite of mine, but now symbolizes so much more and holds such a special place in my heart.
