Katie and Tim’s story begins in December 2018. Katie, who was covering sports at the time, was working at Citifield, covering a breaking news story. Except it wasn’t. After spending hours at the ballpark the once ‘imminent’ trade between the NY Mets and Seattle Mariners was delayed and Katie was stuck at work. It was during that time she also began receiving direct messages on instagram from a guy named Tim - a newly made friend on social media who had admired her and her online humor from afar. He was also thrilled to talk with someone who had a job he once dreamed about having himself and wanted to live vicariously through her experiences. The two began chatting and they realized they had quite a bit in common, particularly a similar sense of humor and love for sports. Eventually Tim managed the courage to call Katie and the chemistry was good almost immediately. Despite Katie and Tim’s hectic work schedules- Katie traveling and writing for TV and Tim starting a new career as a research materials scientist– the calls would sometimes last hours late into the evening. It was those chats that made them both realize there was something different about each other. Finally on September 8, 2019, Tim visited Katie at her apartment in Jersey City to watch the first week of the NFL season. The games also featured Katie’s favorite football team- the NY Giants- play against Tim’s favorite football team- The Dallas Cowboys. This was no small occasion as Katie notoriously preferred to watch her beloved team alone in peace but made a special exception for Tim. And even though the outcome of that particular game was only good for one person in our lovely couple (you can look up who) the outcome of the game was second to the happiness from their first date. Fortunately, that exception of watching that game together turned into the norm for years to come. A few months into dating, Katie and Tim were faced with the COVID pandemic and had to spend months apart trapped in their respective apartments. Despite the distance and the uncertainties of the time, they would help each other pass the time with video calls to check on each other. Katie even found a way to send Tim a few masks and a thermometer so he could venture out of his Brooklyn apartment for a little normalcy. The aftermath of the pandemic also brought on challenges with job uncertainties, as Katie moved to the Tech World and Tim navigated through corporate reorganizations. The resilience they shared and fostered in one another have helped prepare them for managing life’s obstacles. As their relationship grew Katie and Tim embraced a new love for travel- especially thanks to Katie and her knack for planning. They have had amazing trips to several “bucket-list type” places: watching the sunset at Cape Cod, exploring the beautiful waters around St. Thomas/St. John’s, exploring the Holiday decorations in Quebec City for Christmas and New Years, witnessing the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park for Tim’s 40th birthday, and most recently, observing the majestic beauty of the Isle of Skye and Highlands of Scotland. Katie and Tim have also recently embraced the dog co-parent life by introducing their golden retriever puppy- Boomer- into their lives in August last year. Having a dog of their own has been a dream come true and a rewarding learning experience- gladly trading a few less usable shoes and socks for puppy kisses and hugs. Finally on December 20, 2025, our lovely couple finally made their love “official.” Before heading to dinner, they walked around Liberty State Park at sunset with the surrounding views of the cities they had lived in when they first met each other. Tim got down on one knee and proposed. If you’ve made it this far into the story, you can probably guess that Katie said yes.
