Let’s hear it for the Best Man! Charlie Donnelly introduced Katie & Stephen at a cross country meet in 2004. Katie was immediately attracted to Stephen but he ended up dating one of Katie's friends instead. When that relationship ended Katie & Stephen began talking more on AOL instant messenger. Finally, on 07/02/06 Stephen confessed his feelings for Katie. On 08/02/06, Stephen asked Katie to be his girlfriend! (on AIM). When it was time for college, Stephen & Katie knew they wouldn’t be going to the same school. Already 2 years into their relationship, they felt it was only fair to give the long distance relationship a shot. Not only did they make it through 4 years, but they made it through an additional 2 years when Katie went back to Scranton to finish up her nursing degree. Stephen & Katie moved into their apartment in March 2017 with their dog Juliet. Eagerly awaiting the proposal, Katie wondered how Stephen could possibly pull off a surprise after 13yrs. Stephen asked Katie if she wanted to go to the south street seaport the Saturday before her birthday. Katie thought this was suspicious and made a mental note to get her nails done. But Stephen couldn’t wait until her birthday. He completely surprised her by proposing the weekend before in their home with their dog on June 2, 2019.
