How We Met

Snow Days

Sean and Katie had grown up just one mile apart from each other, living in the same neighborhood for most of their lives. It's possible they'd even crossed paths multiple times without realizing it or perhaps just forgotten. But there was one particular meeting when they were both 16 that they would never forget. It was a snowy day when they headed over to a friend's house in the neighborhood, known for having the best sledding hill around. They played in the snow for a while until Sean, being his usual self, wanted to do donuts in the snow in his jeep. He asked Katie if she wanted to drive, and with a resounding "YES" (which wouldn't be the last time she'd say that 💍), she took the wheel with Sean in the passenger's seat. They had a blast, but as typical teenagers, they didn't talk much. For almost five years, they went their separate ways and didn't keep in touch. But fate had other plans for them. When they had their first date, it was a snowy day, just like that day they had gone sledding. And once again, they found themselves enjoying the snow together. Sometimes, life has a funny way of bringing people together. Sean and Katie's chance encounter on a snowy day led to a memorable moment, and it would be the first of many more to come.

How He Proposed

Fancy Frustrations

On the night that Sean was planning to propose, he and Katie had been getting all dressed up for a fancy charity gala. They were just about ready to go when Sean suddenly remembered that he had run and errand. "It won't take long," he assured her, before dashing out the door. But as it turned out, it took much longer than he had anticipated. Two and a half hours later, Sean finally arrived back home - still not yet dressed for the gala. Katie was beyond annoyed, having been waiting around for him for ages. But Sean quickly scrambled to get ready, and they headed out the door. Just when Katie thought they were finally on their way, Sean suddenly announced that they had to make a quick stop at the house they had just bought together - they had not been staying their while they had been working hard to fix it up. Katie had no idea what he could possibly need from an empty house, and the diversion only added to her frustration. Reluctantly, Katie followed Sean into the house to help him search for whatever it was he had forgotten. She was pretty sure that whatever it was, it was actually at their apartment, not the house. But Sean insisted that it was there somewhere, and Katie grudgingly went along with it. As she searched through boxes in the guest room, Sean slipped away to the living room. And when Katie finally finished searching and came back to find him, she saw him down on one knee, holding out a ring. Suddenly, all the annoyance and frustration melted away, and she said yes with tears in her eyes. Despite the chaotic and frustrating start to the evening, Sean's proposal was perfect in its own way - a funny and memorable moment that they would both remember forever.
