Katie and Sean met in Chapel Hill, NC when they started their first year of medical school. They instantly connected over their love for volleyball and became teammates and study partners. A few months later, they became a couple and the rest is history! Sean moved to Portland, ME for General Surgery residency, and Katie matched there the next year for Obstetrics and Gynecology. They always enjoy watching movies, traveling, cooking, and eating lots of great dessert together. Sean currently lives in Nashville, TN for a clinical fellowship in ECMO, and Katie is continuing her residency in Portland. They make as frequent of trips to see each other as they can - Sean bringing Cook Out milkshakes & biscuits from the south and Katie bringing Sean's favorite coffee from Portland.

Sean proposed to Katie on May 29, 2021. Katie had worked a 24 hour shift and woke up from a short sleep before going to pick her parents up from the airport. Sean asked for them to drive to one of their favorite spots in Portland to catch up while overlooking the water (a frequent way for them to reset at the end of the week). They went to a gazebo on the Eastern Promenade that overlooks the Casco Bay, and then Sean got down on one knee! Their friend, Nadi, was hiding in the bushes and took some pictures and Katie never even saw her. They then picked up Katie's parents from the airport and got to share the exciting news! They celebrated with delicious food and drinks in downtown Portland.

We knew we wanted to have an intimate wedding with the most important people in our lives there. For Sean, that included his grandparents in Haiti. Travel to the US is tough, and the current climate in Haiti didn't allow for a wedding there. We settled on the Dominican Republic and fell in love with the idea of a wedding by the beach! We are hoping you will be able to come for the long weekend or even use this as a vacation. We understand it may be challenging for some people to attend, and if so, we hope to celebrate with you another time soon! We are so thankful for everything you have contributed to our lives, and we cannot wait to share this next step with you!
