After almost 12 years together we are finally tying the knot! It has definitely been a roller coaster. But worth every single dip drop and turn!
Match.com was our matchmaker! Our first date was at Bare Bones Grill in Ellicott City. It was memorable to say the least....At least Rudy chose the right Katie despite him texting the wrong one! After a few months of dates we made it official that we were a couple on July 4, 2013!
With the help of our friends, Michelle and Brandon, Rudy was able to pull off a surprise proposal on July 4th. Covered in Old Bay and sweat, I was asked how many crabs were left in the box. As I looked down to count I saw the ring box sitting in between 2 crabs. Rudy then got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I don't know who was in shock more, me or Kendal and Emerson who were there to witness it! Of course I said yes! Then I had to share or shall I say break the news to Bella and Rocco who were away at the beach. I knew Bella was going to be upset that she wasn't there to see it. Boy was I right, but at the end she was happy. Although she still says Rudy needs to propose again so she can see!
With 5 kids between us, ages 14, 16, 18, 20 and 21, we have been kept very busy over the years! 3 of the kids are now adults, but just imagine having 5 kids ages 10 and under in one house! It was certainley an adventure. Emerson was 2, Kendal was 4, Bella was 6, Jackson was 8 and Rocco was 9. After just 6 short months of dating we decided to cram all 7 of us into a tiny house in Sykesville. Since then we have been through 11 Christmas's (Santa was busy at our house), 77 Birthdays (55 of these occurring in Dec, Jan, Feb and March, no wonder we were always broke!), a countless amount of tooth fairy, Easter Bunny and Elf on the shelf visits, (How many different things can the Elf on the shelf actually do? And we had 3 different elves! ), countless soccer, lacrosse, basketball and softball games, 14 Homecoming Dances (6 more to go), 9 Proms (4 more to go), 3 High School graduations from Glenelg 3 years in a row (2 more to go), 3 houses, 3 German shepherds, 1 maltipoo, 9 broken bones and so many more memorable events. 11 years is a long time!
