Katie's mom always said, "Saint Vincent College is so romantic!" and it's true, Saint Vincent College, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania has a special charm that allowed Katie and Rob to build a friendship and then a relationship. Katie and Rob became good friends in 2011 because they were both Communication majors. They had many of the same friends, classes, and spent many nights studying together. In 2014, Rob decided to ride his bike a few miles to the local college bar to spend Katie's 21st birthday with her and her parents, later that night Katie's mom pulled her aside and said, "Why don't you date him, he came all this way for you on a bike!" Katie insisted they were just friends, but mothers always tend to be right because in 2015 Rob asked Katie on their first date. Six years, three states, and one dog later, Katie and Rob are thankful for the charm of Saint Vincent College.

After Katie's mother passed away in 2019, Katie's dad gave Rob her mom's engagement ring and his blessing to marry his daughter. Over one year later, Rob proposed on July 4, 2021 at sunrise in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, with all of their family members present. Katie had no idea what the day would hold until 5:00 am the morning of when Rob told Katie, "we should both wear something nice, I want to take a good picture with the sunrise!" Katie was instantly suspicious that he cared so much about what to wear. That morning Rob got down on one knee and we spent the day celebrating together on the beach with mimosas and sunshine.
