How It All Began

Reagan and Katie met just before their first year of high school, in the fall of 2017. Reagan came to a soccer camp before the season began, and Katie was also attending. After settling into freshman year, Reagan and Katie fell within the same group of classmates and became close friends almost inevitably. By the second semester, their unique friend group would have the funniest stories to share at their infamous lunch table. After a year of high school, Katie invited Reagan to her 16th birthday party at the Plattner’s land. She never expected they would host their closest friends and family there almost eight years later to celebrate their marriage. Reagan and Katie went their separate ways the next two years but were not without their passes in the hallway or class seating arrangements. When they returned to school for their senior year, a light must have come on in both of them. Katie began to tell her friends about Reagan again, and Reagan’s friends began to ask him what was up with him talking to Katie so much. Even Reagan’s parents told him they knew they would see Katie again. The two of them even managed to arrange dinner with their lunch table group from freshman year, but only as an excuse to see one another. One night after a soccer game, Katie’s best friends texted Reagan, supposing they bring him to surprise Katie after she called their bluff. The four of them went on an adventure and the night ended with Katie under Reagan’s arm, all courtesy of Grace and Delaney’s creativity! Reagan and Katie continued to see one another, and Reagan’s friends began to realize that if he made the plans, they would probably be running into Katie and her friends before the end of the night. The two decided to keep things professional and “unlabeled,” which hardly lasted before, at the Spotted Cow of all places, Reagan was asking Katie to be his girlfriend and Katie was saying yes. Graduation in the spring of 2021 came not far after, and they made the cut-off to be called high school sweethearts. It was a summer filled with lovely firsts, but it ended with their first challenge, when Reagan planned to start another fall season of soccer, this time 12 hours south in Georgia. Katie decided he was worth sticking around for, and Reagan believed he pulled the biggest stunt of his life. The truth was that the Lord was sovereign over their lives and answered their prayers, and this would be the theme of their college days, which were not as easy as being high school sweethearts. The lord continued to show each of them why they were in one another’s lives and continued to refine their faith through their friends and family. After a year of weekend flights, hours of Facetime, long drives, and a vow to “never do that again!” Reagan and Katie were classmates once again for their second year of college in 2022. After much prayer and approval, four years of high school, and two years of college, Reagan once again leaned on Katie’s best friends for advice, as well as his knowledgeable and engaged friends Blake and Eli, (and his uncle Brad as a last-minute photographer). Months in advance, he secured not only a ring but an old movie theater sign that read “Katie, will you marry me?” Reagan led her to believe there was a dinner reservation down the street to get her downtown. That night, on December 23rd, 2023, despite Reagan appearing a nervous wreck, and Katie never getting a steak dinner, Reagan asked Katie to “see a movie,” and then to marry him. Katie said “Yes.” Now, almost eight years after meeting and nearly growing up together, by the grace of God and through the support of their friends and family, Reagan and Katie could not be more thrilled to celebrate their marriage with you on June 21st, 2025.
