Our adventures began on eharmany, my profile was not quite fully made yet when Randy was already sending me “icebreakers” and messages. I was very unsure of online dating so I did not pay for the special features, so I could only send icebreakers back and forth. So Randy finally ended up finding me on Facebook. I of corse accepted the request right away! And messaged him “So your the one?” Well little did I know at the time, YES he was the ONE. We started talking for a few weeks and then we went on our first date! Yes, I tried to cancel it… but he told me no! Bring Lucie and Liam with you! So off the kids and I went to Center, ND and rode with a complete stranger to Bismarck, at the time probably not my best decision, clearly it didn’t end so bad though. Our first stop was Rockin’ 50s Cafe, Randy went to help me get Lucie out of her car seat and asks “so how does she get out of here”. I’m thinking ohh boy he can’t work a car seat. Yes, he learned super fast! We ate and continued our date by looking at Christmas lights, for hours, a lot of hours. We talked about the perfect christmas lights for us, and we always liked the same things! We laughed so hard we cried, we had so many conversations during this drive of simply looking at christmas lights. We wanted the same things in life and things were really just way too perfect to be true. How could this crazy man that had to search social media to talk to me, talk endess hours with me on the phone before this date, then I attempted to get cancele before we ended up even going be so so perfect! And it only kept getting better and better... After the first date we definitely made a point to see each other several times a week. Then more, and more. The best first date, with “The One”. -Mrs. Bittner to be
The click of a mouse and the swipe of the credit card I was off to finding someone to meet on eHarmony. I was not too sure about the whole finding a date online. But then I came across this picture of a girl with pink hair and dressed up as a ghost. I thought to myself there is something about this one I need to check her profile. I was reading some of here information and clicked on the like button of what she had written. I still don’t remember what she had written but I loved it. The next thing I knew she had liked a few things on my profile. I decided I would send her an ice breaker and she sent one back. In between the ice breakers I would message her and she would never reply back but she would send an ice breaker back to do again. After about the 8th one I’m like okay time to find her on Facebook. So needless to say, I found her on Facebook. Sent her a friend request and I don’t think it was even a minute she had accepted the request. Then I went on sending her a message on Facebook saying hey. She came back saying I’m guessing you’re the one. I said yup. So, we started talking and then I went on asking her for her phone number. Surprisingly she gave it to me. I guess she didn’t think I was too big of a stocker. From there we talked for couple weeks then I decided I would ask her out on a date. She liked the idea but said she had couple kids that may have to come with or I need to find a babysitter. Without hesitation I told her the kids are more than welcome to come with. When she was on her way to Center, she had asked me when I get there will I get a hug. I replied I love giving hugs and I will give you one. When she pulled up in the drive way, I met her outside and said I and gave her a big hug. She then got the kids out and we all go into the pickup and headed for Bismarck to Rock’n 50s Café. We had a great time eating and visiting. Then we went off and drove around Bismarck looking at all the Christmas lights. I will never forget when I said look at the Minion on the deck and she said where and I’m like you don’t see that 12ft. Minion. We both laughed until tears were running down our faces. Wasn’t long after that and I asked her to be my girlfriend. -Future Groom to Be
A true connection on that very first date, to Randy asking Katie and the whole crazy crew to move in with him 1 short month after that first date, and then Randy holding onto the engagement ring for a month waiting for a perfect time, all the way to finding his absolute favorite spot of all to make the big question unforgettable... A beautiful Tuesday afternoon they had just gotten back from Bismarck, Randy asked to stop at the farm so he could use the bathroom (really pickup the ring), before they went to drive through the field and check to see if the badger was still there. They had stopped at several different holes looking to see if there were any new prints. As they are driving and stopping driving and stopping Katie sees a big mound so Randy and Katie proceed to go that way. Katies looking at it asking what if something jumps out as Randy is sitting in the passenger seat. Mmhm, yep, as Katie turns around Randy’s sitting there holding a beautiful ring (yes, the tag was still on it) and asks, “Will you marry me?” Katie “What are you doing?!” “Wait! Yes!!!!” We’re ENGAGED! Randy was always sure to tell her he would propose in his favorite place, and to say the lease she never imagined it to at a badger hole in the field across from the farm. Randy and Katie's true love story began during that very first icebreaker so many memories and so so many more to come. LETS GET MARRIED!
