Our First Date to Where We Are Now

December 2018

For our first date we went to Betty’s Noodles, a local Chinese restaurant in Santa Cruz, CA. It had very tasty food and we enjoyed each other’s company while getting to know the other more. We bonded over our love for animals, plants and the ocean. We continued our date at The Blue Lagoon - a local bar with dancing. They had a free comedy club that we enjoyed together, learning that we had a similar sense of humor. We made our way to the dance floor after and danced the night away to 80s hits (it was 80s night)! We both knew the other was someone incredibly special and we made things official between us about a month later. Since then, we have moved from Santa Cruz to Denver and bought a house together. We have three dogs - Daphne, Luna, and Maisey and a cat - Smokey who we love dearly. We still enjoy going dancing, for ice cream dates, and to concerts! We love taking our dogs on hikes and to the reservoir. We both like gardening, wine tasting and adventures to museums. We have built such a happy life together and are so excited to take the next step in our journey! Thank you so much for being a part of our special day and taking the time to get to know us a little more! 😊

The Proposal

January 2024

It was our 5 year anniversary and Philip planned a special day to go hiking near the flatirons in Boulder, CO. We packed a picnic and set out on a trail that was a bit icy. Hand in hand, we made our way through the beautiful forest that sparkled with snow and talked of our plans for later that evening. We pointed out birds and animals to each other as we often do while hiking. We came to a good place to stop and spread out our blanket and had our picnic lunch. After lunch we took some pictures of the scenery and continued our hike along the trail. Philip found a nice spot with a great view and set up his camera to take a picture of the two of us. Little did I know, the camera was actually recording a video! He had us pose for a picture, we hugged and smiled, then he pointed something out in the distance behind us. I turned and looked, and when I turned back he was on his knee bringing out a ring box! I of course said yes and we finished our hike incredibly excited for the future. We both called our parents and siblings to share the good news and began bouncing ideas for the wedding off of each other. We stopped at the Dushanbe Tea House in Boulder and got a tea infused cocktail to cheers to our future! Every day since has been filled with excitement for our wedding to come and we can’t wait to spend the day with you all.
