Nick and I met at good old Johnny's Hall of Fame, downtown Des Moines, in February of 2018. Nick still won't admit this but he followed me around everywhere that night! After that night passed, nothing really came of our relationship. Fast forward to August of 2018, and we happened to cross paths once again. It didn't take long for Nick to reach out about hanging again soon. Although I was hesitant (for no good reason), my friends would not let it go and told me over and over again that I needed to go out with him. THANK GOD, I listened to them, because I don't think Nick and I have spent a day apart since. It is funny how people come into your life when you least expect it. A house, a dog, countless laughs, and a million "I love you's" later, we truly cannot imagine life without each other.
On August 21, 2020 Nick asked me to get drinks after I was done teaching. I told him sure, but I had already made a nail appointment after school. He begged and begged me to cancel it! I was beyond annoyed not quite sure why we could't just get drinks after the appointment. I gave in and canceled. When I got home he rushed me to change and get ready...I was starting to wonder what was going on. We walked to a bar in our neighborhood to have a drink and Nick finished 2 drinks in about 15 minutes :) I knew something was up after this! When we decided to walk home Nick asked to walk by a gazebo in our neighborhood. This gazebo has been my favorite part of our neighborhood since we moved in over a year ago. Under the gazebo is where Nick asked me to marry him! Both of us cannot remember a single word he said, but we both know the moment was perfect. As if the day could not get any more perfect, Nick also had all of our family and friends waiting at our house to celebrate!
