Our Story

Our story started when Katie gave Mitch a lift home after a night out when a friend asked if she could take him. Katie thought she was just doing a good deed… Mitch clearly saw it as an opportunity. At the time Mitch seemed rather full of himself, confidently connecting to Katie’s Bluetooth speaker and playing a Romanian clubbing song like it was completely normal behaviour. It turns out that confidence may have had something to do with the drinks, because the sober version of Mitch that Katie met later was actually rather shy. A few weeks later Mitch popped up on Snapchat asking if he could repay the favour with a drink… which quickly turned into him bringing fish and chips to work, offering to drive Katie everywhere, and generally not taking no for an answer. We became friends first — with a few drunken nights in the stingray, late-night sing-alongs in the car, Harry Potter marathons, and Mitch’s outrageous one-liners slowly winning Katie over… despite her being very determined she wasn’t falling for him. That was until a few words of encouragement from Katie’s mum, opening her eyes to the love of her life. We officially got together just before heading off on a weekend away to Bath… where halfway through, the world went into lockdown. Not exactly ideal timing, but we made the most of it, isolating together in a shepherd’s hut (with a hot tub, so it could’ve been worse), long walks, bike rides, and figuring out life as a couple in very strange circumstances. When we got home, we weren’t allowed to properly see each other, so Mitch would finish work and drive over just to sit three metres away on the other side of the gate while we talked for hours. Not your typical start to a relationship, but somehow it made everything feel even more certain. Once the world opened up again, we finally got to date properly — and from that point on we’ve been pretty inseparable. 2024-25 was a bit of a whirlwind — Mitch finally locked it in with a proposal, we moved into our first home, became a family of three with our fur baby Maple and now we’re onto planning a wedding in France. We can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter of our story with everyone we love.
