From Katie: I told Meg I loved her in Mexico City. I remember my heart absolutely bursting in that moment- like letting go of heavily guarded feelings. There is truly nothing better than continuously being met with the same excitement over shared future dreams with the one you love. Ever since then, Meg has floored me with her thoughtfulness. In the early days, each time we would part by train, no more than a day would go by and I would be floating in a sea of love from a letter she sent recapping the delight of our weekends together. Meg is the type of woman who surprises you with handmade earrings from your tiny clam shell collection when you're missing the beach, the woman who secretly redirects a cab to the ballet when you are feeling low and who will stop at nothing when it comes to making wild dreams become reality. Most importantly, Meg knows how to access my heart the way no one ever could (not even me btw), and she does it everyday. A big part of our love story is a continuously adoring each other's self expression. Though, it's still a little unclear if she still loves me for a) my clawfoot tub b) my food obsession c) my ambiance OCD... but really, those are all here to stay. Wish us luck! From Meg: I fell fast for Katie after our first date which was a full weekend. We matched on a dating app so I sent her a message but she didn't reply for 4 months. When she finally did, I went straight for the kill and soon found myself sitting in front of a roaring fire sipping a cocktail with the most beautiful woman I'd ever met. I thought NO WAY this is happening, but she immediately made me laugh and followed through on her promise for dancing. She created the most magical three day first date together...I didn't know if I would hear from her again or if it was just a dream. But she chased me back into the city a week later...and here we are!
Part 1: Meg planted a fake 'art gallery opening' on a mid-August, Wednesday evening. The event sounded so fun, it convinced Katie to prepare appetizers and dear friend Jack. Upon arrival to the site via a 'detour' to Kinderhook Farm, she was led down a candle lined path through sheep pasture accompanied by mandolin, then joined by cello, to meet at the top of a grassy hill where Meg proposed at sunset. Part 2: Katie expressed her love in a more intimate and private setting deep in the Catskills. Per Meg's love language: a copper bathtub, wild wallpaper and loud florals were present at the cowboy cabin she got down on one knee. After numerous picnics that weekend, we walked along the Esopus River drinking champagne out of the bottle and partner dancing under the sun. We can't wait to keep the celebration going with our friends and family in August 2022!
