As Matthew was cracking open his first Blue Light at the Syracuse vs Florida State football tailgate, word got around that Brad Sullivan's sister might be coming. Matthew was expecting a dark hair, Italian looking girl to show up. Much to his surprise, a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes came walking his way; introducing herself as Katie Sullivan. After many tailgates, Coleman's old fashions, and 3 stolen pool balls (Matthew's attempt to court Katie), Matthew finally mustered up the courage to ask Katie on a real date. In another attempt to impress Katie, Matthew chose ice skating as their first date activity. However the only impression that Matthew left on Katie was putting ketchup on his bacon jam burger (questionable...). Even though Matthew didn't have the best taste in condiment choices, Katie still gave him an end of the night kiss next to the Clinton Square Christmas tree. There would be many more controversial condiment choices, Hallmark movie moments, binge watching shows, and late night Taco Bell orders to follow. But most importantly, being with each other through it all.

3:30 PM Getting Ready (Katie's point of view): This will be a fun, casual dinner tonight with Lex and Loudon. Let's hope I am ready to go in the next 30 minutes since I told Matthew I would be ready by 3:00. (Matthew's point of view): I'm sweating...should I shower again? I might have time since she will probably take another hour. 4:00 PM The Walk Down (Katie's point of view): I love all of my Christmas decorations. This house looks like a Hallmark movie. (Matthew's point of view): Oh shit here we go. I hope the camera is set up correctly. Matthew: "Cheetoh has been jumping at something in the tree. Is there something in there?" Katie: "OMG is it a squirrel" (Katie's point of view): Looking around the tree for some animal. Immediately spots something different on the tree since she knows every ornament she's buys. It is a wooden circular ornament that states "Katie will you marry me?" (Matthew's point of view): Here we go. Time to get down on one knee. Don't drop the ring. (Katie's point of view): Turns around and sees Matthew on the floor on one knee. Matthew was initially silent (Matthew's point of view): Thinking to himself that he was saying a whole speech.. in reality..mumbling Katie: "So are you going to ask me:)" Matthew: "Katie, will you marry me?" .... waiting nervously Katie: "Yes!!!!!!!" Moments of hugs, kisses, popping champagne. Lex and Loudon finally joined in on the celebrations in the kitchen. 4:45 PM The Stalling (Katie's point of view): Wow what a surprise. Going to be an even better night at dinner. (Lex, Loudon and Matthew's point of view): What can we say to stall her. Keep pouring her champagne!! Katie's thought was that we were going to dinner at Evergreen. Lex stated it would be a good idea to get a drink at Maxwell's before dinner. Everyone was in agreement (luckily). We all went into Maxwell's and Katie took a spot at the bar. 5:00 PM The Second Surprise Katie: "I'm hungry. Let's order chicken wings" (Matthew's point of view): SHIT... think of something. She loves bar games.... Matthew: "Why don't we go play some darts?" Katie: "YES" Matthew leads the way over to the dart board. For some reason he takes a sharp turn left towards a wooden door. He slowly opens the door, and to Katie's surprise all of their family and friends are cheering on the other side. Another amazing surprise for the night, filled with friends, family, great food, lots of drinks and lots of love.
