Matt joined Phi Chi Theta two years before Katie, looking to get involved and make the most of his college experience. By the time Katie joined in 2018, hoping to find her place and build new friendships, Matt was already serving as the chapter Treasurer. Neither of them expected to meet the person they would spend forever with. Katie’s first impression of Matt was that he was a little bit of a dork, but in a way that made her laugh without even trying. Matt, on the other hand, was immediately drawn to Katie. He noticed her confidence, her honesty, and the way she spoke her mind so effortlessly. What started as simple conversations after meetings slowly turned into something more. They spent time studying together, walking across campus, and talking about everything and nothing all at once. In the beginning, their relationship was quiet and understated, built on small moments that felt easy, natural, and real. As they got to know each other, they found a balance that just worked. Matt admired Katie’s energy and confidence. Katie loved Matt’s steady nature and the calm he brought into every situation. The little things they once teased each other about became the very things they grew to appreciate most. Somewhere along the way, their friendship deepened into something undeniable. Between late night conversations, shared routines, and endless laughter, they realized they had found something rare. By junior year, it was clear. Katie was the first to say “I love you,” and Matt did not hesitate to say it back. He had been feeling it all along. Years later, in 2025, Matt planned a proposal that reflected the way their relationship had always been. Thoughtful, intentional, and full of meaning. At Inglenook Winery in Napa, he created a quiet moment in the vineyards just as the sun began to rise. Katie believed they were simply enjoying a peaceful morning together. Then Matt got down on one knee and asked the most important question of their lives. Together, they have built a life filled with laughter, support, and a deep sense of comfort in one another. They challenge each other, encourage each other, and celebrate both the big moments and the quiet ones. Through it all, they have remained what they were from the very beginning, Best friends. And now, they cannot wait to begin this next chapter together and spend a lifetime choosing each other, every single day.
