We met in 2007 when Matt was river guiding on the Grand Canyon and Katie was a guest on a family trip. Despite the initial spark, life got in the way and Katie went back to college on the East Coast while Matt continued working out west. We kept in touch over the 12 years, on and off, and always thought of each other as the "one-that-got-away." Thankfully, we reconnected on Thanksgiving, 2018 (Katie takes credit for calling Matt...Matt takes credit for answering the phone). From there, the timing was perfect...a whirlwind courtship traveling between Brooklyn and Lenox, MA, an engagement trip to Iceland, and a cross-country move later, we are ready to tie the knot.
