Martin and Katie first met in Houston in 2015. Martin was attending medical school and Katie had just relocated to Houston for her nursing career. After years of occasionally seeing each other around the Houston Catholic and healthcare scenes, they finally connected in Spring 2019 after Katie moved back to Houston from St. Louis, MO. At first they bonded over their common love for literature and food, sprinkled with a healthy dose of existential angst. The friendship grew quietly, but soon they had to admit there was something deeper drawing them together. The difficulty of their burgeoning friendship was that Martin had moved to St. Louis in June 2019. One hot summer night however, Martin drove the five hours from St. Louis to Chicago (another story in its own right!) to persuade Katie of what had become increasingly evident: dating was the next natural step in their burgeoning relationship. Because Martin was now in St. Louis and Katie in Houston, this involved a demanding system of of phone calls and inter-state visits--not for the faint of heart! In 2020, Martin and Katie decided that life was infinitely better together and long-distance was for the birds. Clearly, they needed to get married! They still aren't entirely sure who proposed to whom, but they're thrilled to be getting married--and to be living together in St. Louis (until it's time for Houston again). They can't wait to celebrate their wedding with you!
