Please make sure your passports are good until at least February 2023. If you need to renew or get a passport, DO IT ASAP. Passports are taking longer to process, but you can pay to expedite it. It still may take several weeks for you to receive. Children also need passports to travel! Both parents have to be present to apply, with the child. We had Lexi's expedited and it did take less than a month to receive.
This was brought up in a few of the facebook groups I'm in. There are solicitors at the airports and possibly on the beach that will tell you you need to pay a Visitax of $10-11 and show a pass to be able to leave the country. This is already included with your flights and does not need to be paid to the solicitors (everyone said they were never asked for proof of a pass).
No :)
As of June 12th, we no longer are required to take a COVID test to get back into the US!
Damprid- it is HUMID. Rooms get musty, and people have suggested that a bag or two of Damprid really helps. Dinner attire- Semi dressy in the ala carte resaurants (aka, not buffets). Women can wear dresses and nice tops. Men, a nice shirt with pants/jeans. Must have shoewear. Bug spray- I've not heard much about bugs, but it's going to be hot and August, so better safe than sorry, especially if going to the Cenotes. Cash for tips- Tips are very well received, and not much is needed. Bring a bunch of $1's and you'll be set. It is common practice to leave a tip for housekeeping and generally anyone that serves you. Tipping goes a long way with getting better/faster service. Safes- do not bring one, but there are good sized safes in each room, and it is HIGHLY recommended that you use them for anything valuable when you are not in your room. Sunscreen- the sun is intense. Don't get fried! Water shoes- people have mentioned these are a good idea for the cenotes. It's very slippery on the rock steps. The beaches are pretty clear, but it may be a good idea for children at least, to wear them in any water.
