Back in the early Covid days, Katie and Mac were scrolling on hinge when they stumbled upon each other's profiles and matched. Newport was faster to open restaurants up than Boston due to covid, so Katie and Mac’s first date was on a sunny Sunday in Newport back in June 2020 and the two never looked back from there.

Each year after their first date in Newport, it became tradition for Katie and Mac to go to Newport for a date to commemorate their first meet up. Four years later, Katie was under the impression it was their usual date day, lunch by the water and pretending to be tourists for the day with Mac's classic suggestion to "steal a boat for the afternoon" despite his hatred of the open ocean. They were sitting on a dock they had sat at on their first date enjoying the views when Mac asked a lady to take a photo of the two of them. Little did she know she would have the phone on video mode. When Katie turned around to get ready for a picture, Mac was already on one knee ready to pop the question. And as we all know, Katie said yes!
