Our Story

Katie & Luis met in August, 2018 at Drew University, where they were RA's together. After Katie saw Luis solve a Rubik's cube, she knew that she needed to be friends with him.

Katie & Luis became best friends very quickly, which eventually developed into more. They (finally) start dating on January 13th, 2019!

About 6 months after they started dating, Katie visited Luis that summer in Spain and met his entire family. Katie confirms that after this trip, she immediately knew that she was going to marry him.

Luis transferred to Columbia starting in Fall, 2019, but he couldn’t get away that easy! Katie and Luis were visiting each other almost every weekend.

In spring 2020, covid hit the same weekend of Katie’s 21st birthday. Luis ended up staying with Katie’s family (who he had only met a few times), but this was how they got to know him, and love him!

Luis went back to Spain in June of 2020, so there were countless facetime dates for 7 months. He came back to the United States in January of 2021, and they haven’t had any facetime dates since :)

The following year in 2021, Katie graduated from Drew University, where she and Luis had met just a few years prior.

In the fall of 2021, Katie & Luis got their first apartment together in New Jersey!

In the spring of 2022, Luis graduated from Columbia University and Katie was there every step of the way!

In the summer of 2023, Katie & Luis moved into their current apartment in Fairview, New Jersey!

On October 13th, 2023, Luis (finally) proposed on the high line. This is where they had their first unofficial date in fall, 2018. Katie had no proof that she was getting proposed to, but 100% knew.

Now, the pre-wedding festivities have begun!
