What does formal attire mean?

Answer

We had some trouble when deciding what “dress code” to choose. But this is what we were thinking when we chose formal: Men are welcome to wear a suit or dress pants and a sports coat. Women are welcome to wear an elegant dress, skirt or pant suit. For clarification, we are not asking that women wear floor-length gowns or that men wear tuxedos. Feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in!
