We met at the Swinomish Youth Center. It was Lauren's first day of work. We started to talk from morning to night and going everywhere together. We became best friends and then more. It didn't take long for us to realize that we both needed each other and that we had met at the most perfect time. We always say we saved each other. 🤍

After buying a ring and asking Katie's parents for permission. Lauren secretly set up a canopy, laid out blankets and pillows, hung lights, and set up a projector while Katie was working. When the sun went down, Lauren grabbed Katie a drink and led her outside. They laid in the canopy and Lauren started a slideshow with pictures and music that she had been working on for a few months. When it ended, Lauren pulled out the ring, grabbed the wrong hand at first (oops), grabbed the correct hand, and asked Katie to marry her. The response was an instant "Yes!"
