After years of being friends on social media, Katie was out with some girlfriends at a bar when she saw Kris walk in. They made eye contact, and Kris gave a little wave, but he left shortly after. Katie asked her friend Kelly, a mutual friend, to message him and get him back there! Kris returned to the bar, and they exchanged numbers after a drink or two! The next day, the world shut down, delaying their first date until restaurants started outdoor and takeout dining. The first date included delicious to-go cocktails and brunch from Hootch and Banter on a bench by Carroll Creek in downtown Frederick. After 6 hours had passed, the first date ended, and the rest is history!

As everyone knows, Katie waited ever so patiently for this day... Earlier in the year, Kris started the journey of buying a diamond. It was a long journey, but with the help of a friend, he was able to hand-select a diamond from Antwerp, the diamond capital of the world! On July 29th, Kris took Katie "on a date," she knew something was up because he wouldn't reveal where they were going. He brought her to the bench where they sat on their first date and got down on one knee! While they don't remember every word, they remember Katie saying, "Yes!" After many happy tears and sharing the news with their family, the celebration continued downtown!
