Our first date was at a small taco shop in Waldo. I nervously began walking up to the restaurant to see a beautiful young lady waving at me through the window. At first, I wondered if she was waving at me, and tried to act cool--as cool as I could at that moment. She greeted me in the restaurant with a smile and a hug. After greeting each other I played a small amount of musical chairs before sitting across from her. For everyone that knows Katie, knows her incredible ability to hold meaningful conversations. At the time I had to focus hard to get the words to come out right and keep up with the great conversation topics. We shared a bowl of queso, and each got some tacos. Believe it or not, I got her to chuckle at some of my jokes throughout the evening. As the date went on the nervousness seemed to melt away. I felt I had another great soul at the table with me. As the evening was coming to an end, we walked out of the restaurant and said our goodbyes to each other. You may be asking, did you kiss her?! Being the gentleman I am, I never kiss on a first date…. That and I assumed I had a large amount of queso in my beard and didn’t want that to be the first experience! Two things I knew from our evening together were this, she was something special and my heart would have done anything to see her again. I’m lucky enough to still have that feeling to this day, and I hope everyone finds the person that does the same for them.
