The story begins in 2017, when they first crossed paths in Atlanta, GA. As John and Katie were both from Florida and new to this peachy city, they found comfort in each other knowing that moving and making friends is not so easy. The friendship started as casual lunches during work break, turned to a gym buddy hitting the weights 5x a week, into baking partners. John would make extra effort to encourage Katie to work out just to hang out with her at the gym, while Katie would find any and all recipes for the two of them to try to bake together. It wasn’t long until their mutual love of food ended up bringing them together. One year later, the two began dating and found themselves a community at Passion City Church. By allowing Jesus to come between the relationship, they quickly realized they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together doing only what Jesus could allow. John fell in love with Katie’s charm, wit, and of course her spontaneous salty comebacks. On the other hand, Katie fell in love with John’s kind heart, silly jokes, and muscular arms. They are grateful that their paths crossed, and especially thankful for the community that stood by them and supported them. COVID-19 may be at large, but John and Katie are determined and so looking forward to starting this new chapter together, and cannot wait to celebrate with their favorite people!

In the middle of the pandemic, John and Katie had 17 of their closest friends and family join for a Minimony (aka mini-ceremony) in Atlanta. They rented an Airbnb to set up moody string lights, a starry photo wall, display a beautiful cake, and some of the best engagement photos. Six-feet apart, friends and family celebrated John and Katie in an intimate and dreamy way. As perfect as the Minimony was, they were sad to not get the opportunity to celebrate with other friends and close family... It only took two years, but John and Katie cannot wait to have YOU come celebrate with them in person! Please come to celebrate two years of marriage (and many more to come) at Brick & Ivey in Marietta, GA!
