Our wedding is fast approaching and we have been monitoring the spread of covid every day. We know we initially said we weren’t going to require anything, but safety is our top priority. With that being said, we are asking that everyone over the age of 10 who is planning on attending the wedding is either fully vaccinated, or takes a covid-19 test the week of the wedding. If anyone is fully vaccinated but comes into close contact with someone who tests positive we highly recommend getting tested. If you are sick, please do not come. If you test positive for covid-19 the week of the wedding, do not come. If you are not fully vaccinated and do not know where you can get tested, let us know and we can help you find a testing site. If this changes anyone’s decision about attending the wedding, please let us know. This was not an easy decision but we want this day to be fun and safe for everyone. We will still be providing masks and encouraging them for anyone who wants them. We hope that everyone is understanding, but no matter what we will not be changing our decision. Our friends and family are too important to us to put their lives, and our lives, at risk. We love you and hope to see you in a couple weeks ❤️
We met in August 2014 at Kentucky Christian University and became fast friends. We were the kind of friends who couldn't sit together during lectures/recitals because we would make each other laugh too much. According to Joey, our first date was in January 2015 (even though neither of us would call it a date then). Katie called him that night and said she wanted to go for a drive. We ended up driving on the highway for 2 hours until we eventually stopped in a small town in West Virginia and got coffee. Katie ended up spilling coffee all over her white coat and Joey laughed at her. It was so romantic (not). After that night, we spent a lot of time together. Most nights were spent playing/talking music. Some nights involved going to the movies, and some involved campus wide hide and seek games. The whole time, we both insisted we were only friends. Katie left KCU after that year but she visited campus any weekend she could. In September 2016 we decided to give the whole relationship thing a chance. It didn't last long as we realized it was a bad time to be together. It was Joey's last year of school and we didn't know what the future held. We continued to be friends but lost touch in March 2017. After that, we lived our own lives while silently keeping up with one another through social media. We reconnected in August 2019. A month later, we saw each other for the first time in over 2 years and knew we were where we were meant to be. Joey officially asked Katie to be his girlfriend on September 3, 2019. On March 9, 2020 he proposed at Disney World. Katie knew it was coming and made him promise to not propose in front of the castle, so he instead proposed in Epcot on the lower terrace of the France pavilion. It was after the fireworks when they were the only people left in that part of the park. How often do you get to feel like you're the only people in Disney World? Now, we can't wait to have a beautiful celebration with friends and family at this historic venue!
