I took Katie on a little scavenger hunt around Pearl St in Boulder, giving her clues to places we'd been to on dates. The delicious tacos and tres leches at bartaco. The Chop House where we had our first anniversary date. The beer garden where we laughed our butts off during comedy shows. The hunt ended with a short hike in the foothills around Boulder. We got to the end of the trail and turned back to go home, Katie leading the way. I stopped in a patch of sunlight on the trail. A small creek was bubbling to the left. To the right, a patch of dark purple-blue larkspur in a sea of green caught the warm light. I called out, "hey Katie", and she turned around. He knelt there on one knee looking up at me, a little smile on his face. The ring glittered and everything stood still. In a warm rush I realized that this was the moment I had been dreaming about for over a year. In a blend of surprise, smiles, and tears I said yes. It was our time to seal in marriage this joyful, supportive, and goofy bond we had nurtured together. We can't wait to celebrate this moment with all of you! See you in the mountains!
