I went out to downtown Tulsa for their annual music festival with a few girl friends. This is a huge production centered around Cain's Ballroom; all of the side streets are closed, three stages with over 100 bands playing and thousands of fans. I was watching the main stage while the last band, AWOLNATION, was playing. I couldn't help but notice this very cute guy (with an incredible beard) standing behind me. He kept "accidentally" bumping into me throughout the whole show, which was the perfect excuse to talk to me. We walked to a bar after the concert with all of our friends and flirted all night. Now we are engaged, flirt every night and catch live music whenever we can.
Having known for a while that I wanted to ask Katie to marry me, I was waiting for the perfect timing to pop the question. Summer of last year we took a road trip to beautiful Southern Colorado and I knew “The Amphitheater” in the San Juan mountains would fit the bill perfectly. The ring was burning a hole in my pocket and I think Katie was growing suspicious of the unusually high number of check-ins from friends and family, so I decided to ask the first evening we arrived. We drove up above Ouray and found a good spot to take in the view. It was a bit chilly and overcast but I wanted to get down on one knee to ask properly so we had to get out of the truck. Katie was slightly confused when I insisted that we get out to look at the stars on the cloudy night but finally she relented. I can’t hardly remember exactly what I managed to mutter out before I got down on one knee asked if she would be my wife! She was very surprised and excited and of course said yes! We moved back inside so she could actually see the ring and we could get warmed up!
