On September 11, 2021, amongst the food trucks, festival crowds and a cheeky glass (or two) of wine at the Toowoomba Food & Wine Festival, fate decided it was time for Katie and Jamie to meet. Now, like any good love story, this one started with a friend playing matchmaker… she just didn’t know it yet. Katie’s friend spotted Jamie across the festival and thought she might have been onto a winner herself, so she struck up a conversation. It didn’t take long before the chat turned into Jamie having one of those hang on a minute moments — recognising Katie as the mum of the little curly-haired girl in his daughter’s daycare class, and just like that, his attention very quickly shifted Katie’s way. Small town? Maybe. Meant to be? Definitely. Once introductions were made, they quickly realised they had more in common than just daycare drop-offs. Similar journeys, shared values, a love for family, and just like that, this was where a country boy met his country girl. From that day on, they couldn’t seem to spend time apart. Suddenly daycare drop-offs became the highlight of the day, not just for the kids, but for sneaky catch-ups and chats that turned into something much more. As their relationship grew, so did their vision for the future. It wasn’t long before they decided it was time to bring their two families together as one, and that’s where the real magic began. Since then, they’ve built a beautiful home, a life full of love, laughter and adventure, and are raising their three gorgeous girls surrounded by everything they love most - family, country living and making memories together. So when a very rare child-free holiday rolled around on their cruise, Jamie knew he couldn’t let the moment pass. He asked Katie to make it official, to turn their love story into forever and to become his wife. And the rest… is history.
