Growing up, our lives overlapped in so many ways, yet we somehow never crossed paths. We lived in the same county, went to rival high schools, and shared mutual family friends. For years we were circling the edges of each other’s lives. That changed in 2017. Jamie was at Western Kentucky, and I was at Ole Miss, but we were in the same place for spring break. A mutual friend introduced us, and we quickly discovered we were not only from the same hometown, but also shared the same major: Geology (yes, we love rocks). What we didn’t expect was how natural everything would feel, like it was something that had always been waiting to happen. There was a sense of rightness we hadn’t known before. Distance never made us question it. Five hours apart turned into eight. Different schools. Different states. Different seasons of life. But we kept choosing each other and never stopped planning a future together. Eventually, that future led us to Denver. We moved across the country together and finally began to build a life side-by-side. It was exciting and terrifying but starting fresh together brought us closer than ever. Three years later, while on camping trip, surrounded by aspen trees, and the La Sal mountains Jamie got down one knee. From almost crossing paths as kids to planning a forever together, our story feels like it was always unfolding exactly as it should. We can’t wait to celebrate the next chapter with all of you.
