We recommend taking an Uber or Lyft for the easiest door-to-door experience. Keep in mind that the ride from downtown Chicago to Evanston around 5 pm can take 30–50 minutes due to traffic, while the return trip after 8 pm is typically only 25–30 minutes. If you prefer public transit, both Metra and CTA subway stations are about a 10-minute walk from the Budde home.
The dress code is black tie optional, meaning guests are welcome to dress in formal or black tie attire. Women may wear an ankle-length dress or floor-length gown in elevated fabrics, paired with heels or elegant flats. Men may choose a tuxedo or a suit in a classic, formal color - such as black, navy, or dark green - with a dress shirt and dress shoes.
The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00 pm - we kindly ask that all guests be seated by 4:50 pm. Late arrivals will not be able to be seated once the ceremony has begun. Following the ceremony, the celebration continues at the Wellsley with a cocktail hour, dinner reception, and afterparty.
We understand that most guests will be coming from out of town and securing childcare can be difficult, so we have included children on invites. However, please note that the event has been tailored to adults, and there will not be modifications for children (e.g., no high chairs, no kid's meals, absolutely no iPads or other gaming devices / toys allowed). We are happy to gather some childcare recommendations for the night if you prefer to attend adults only!
