Our Story

Eugene and Katie met in the late fall of 2021. Just about a decade prior, both were attending La Follette High School at the same time, though they were worlds apart as Eugene was a senior while Katie was yet a freshman. Fast forward to 2021, both Eugene and Katie had dating site profile (as are the times). They both had been single for years and were again in a place where they were ready for love. One day, Eugene saw and recognized Katie while browsing and continued to see her profile on subsequent days. After about the 10th time of seeing her and not making a move, Eugene decided to message Katie directly on social media and ask if she'd like to go on a date. It took several days (and some coaching from her friends and family), but Katie finally messaged back and after getting to know him a bit through messaging, agreed to go on a date with Eugene. One date led to the next and after some time, both Katie and Eugene began to see that they did not want to continue life without the other. In the spring of 2022, they began the relationship.

The Engagement

In short order, both Katie and Eugene recognized that they had found their person and did not want to waste time in a long dating relationship. Eugene bought a ring and secured the blessing from Katie's parents. It was winter 2022 and Eugene was set to spend Christmas with Katie and her family in Milwaukee. Knowing how much family means to Katie, Eugene decided Christmas Day would be the day to pop the big question. Eugene settled on a snowy winter walk to the park in Milwaukee to ask Katie to marry him. Unfortunately, it was 10 degrees Fahrenheit outside that day and as Eugene would later find out, Katie hates the cold more than anything else. After some coercing, Eugene was able to get Katie to come with him on a short walk to the park. All of Katie's family knew what was about to happen and helped get Katie out the door. After about 4 minutes of walking, Katie was entirely over the walk but reluctantly continued. Once at the park, Eugene used the short window of time he had before Katie might run back home to gently grab her face and profess his eternal love for her. In the cold on Christmas Day, Eugene dropped to one knee and asked Katie to marry him. She said yes, and the two spent the rest of the day celebrating their love surrounded by family and friends.
