Grab a flight of wine and some oysters in this picturesque venue. Our favorite part of this place is the dogs; they rescue old hunting dogs from the kill shelter and let them live out their final years amongst the vines. and in exchange the dogs keep the deer away from the grapes. The dogs are fenced in with the vines so you won't get to pet any dogs, but know that they are there working hard to keep the grapes safe.
There are all sorts of things to do at this new attraction. This is a full movie theater with an arcade, bumper cars, go-karts, mini golf, batting cages, and a full restaurant and bar. Great for kids and adults.
We haven't had the chance to check this out yet but it is one of the few upscale restaurants in the area. Try it out and report back! UPDATE: We tried it (it was research!). If you are wondering whether its worth it to pay $6 for two pieces of bread...the answer is yes. The mussels are amazing and require extra bread for the delicious broth. This is probably not a very child friendly restaurant.
This is on the other side of the river but worth the hike if you love oysters and great views (and who doesn't?). Their menu is not extensive so we usually just have oysters and wine and plan dinner elsewhere.
Did we mention oysters at all anywhere yet? Yes, you can get them here, too! They have a good but small menu and a nice atmosphere. Note, there may be bachelorette activities happening here Thursday before the wedding so what you see at Dredge stays at Dredge.
Both carwash AND cafe, this is THE destination for brunch. Bonus...you can wash your car while you are there! Simple country style food and the best cakes. Seriously, try the cakes (tip, we won't be serving cake at our wedding so this is your only cake opportunity).
Country style family diner. A local favorite.
Burgers are ok, but they have crazy milkshakes! Good choice for kids or a quick bite to eat (perhaps after oysters at Merrior?)
We almost don't want to tell you about this place because we don't want to share! Get there early so you don't miss out. Try the egg and bacon sandwich. Its served on a donut and the bacon is coated in some sort of maple-y goodness. Maybe bring the bride a donut? She's probably hungry.
Cute wine and tapas restaurant with an inviting patio. We've enjoyed everything we have tried on their menu.
This is our go-to coffee shop. The breakfast sandwich on a bagel is one of our favorites. They just got their liquor license so boozy lunch is also an option. We won't judge.
The restaurant at the Tides Inn is right on the water and has a pretty decent, if a little pricey, menu. Go for the views. If you want to be a looky-loo, drive around the neighborhood behind the Inn to see some of the prettiest houses in the area.
In pre-covid times, the Marina had a public pool that we are hoping is open this year! For a small daily fee you can swim all day, enjoy the walk up tiki-bar, and meet some locals. Watch out for the guy who invites you to smoke pot on his boat. Don’t smoke pot with strangers regardless of how much you want to go boating.
Rental paddleboards and tours.
