After 8+ years of avoiding dating apps I was convinced by a friend (bridesmaid Bianca) to download Hinge. I had just moved to Milwaukee and it would "at least serve as a way to meet people." Despite my initial apprehensions, Gee was one of the first 10 people I matched with and the second person I went on a date with. It also helped that he was a handsome chef whose profile mentioned that he liked cats and watching movies (especially Harry Potter).
After texting for a few weeks, we decided to "meet in real life" and made plans for our first date. The initial plan was to go to a sports bar to watch the Packer's game, however I became sick and ended up cancelling a few hours before. To this day Gee likes to say that I stood him up, however that is not true - I really was just sick lol. We rescheduled for the next weekend and got drinks at Art Bar, a bar in Milwaukee that features live music and local artwork. Conversation was easy and we ended up talking the rest of the night. Before we knew it it was bar close (which for those that don't know me is crazy because I normally like to be in bed by 9 PM) and as people say, the rest is history.
The week before Thanksgiving we went on vacation to Asheville, NC. I will admit I was hopeful that he would propose sometime during our trip, however he managed to convince me that it was not going to happen for at least a few more months. On our last day in Asheville we attempted to go on a sunrise hike, however once we reached a certain elevation the fog was so dense that we could barely see each other let alone the sun or mountains. We ended up driving back down the mountain to an overlook with an amazing view and joined a group of four college aged guys to watch the sunrise. After waiting for the guys to leave (which I'm sure felt like hours), Gee got down on one knee and proposed, & obviously I said yes :)
