The story begins nearly 10 years ago, circa summer of 2012. It was the summer after freshman year of college. Katie completed her first year at HVCC and Evan returned home from his first year at Clarkson. Neither expected what was to come. The first time they met, light conversation and smiles were exchanged. A few games were played and winners were declared. Nothing more transpired that evening but the looks and smiles were enough to make Evan think he may have the slightest chance. A few weeks later the two met again at another party. In the days leading up, it was clear that Evan and Katie would both be attending. As such friendly pre-game smack talk and banter was exchanged via social media, largely instigated by Christine and Stephen. A couple hours into the party, Katie pulled Evan from the corner and the games began, eventually leading to the pool table. The game of pool started as 2v2 but it quickly turned into Katie vs Evan. Katie lead with, "just so you know, I'm pretty good at pool", Evan challenged her to a match. The two talked, pool was played, and Katie won the match. The night ended with no real direction as to where things were going, but both knew there might just be something there. The next day, Katie received a text message from an unknown number that read, "I bet you think you are pretty good a pool huh?". She knew who it was. The rest is history.
Katie began the day by getting ready for what she imagined as a surprise day out with the girls. Before Katie left the house Evan asked, "Do you have any idea what Christine is surprising you with?" Fast forward to a full day of pampering, full body massages, lunch with mimosas, saunas, you name it! Come to find out this was all a master plan of Evan's to get Katie out of the house. As the girls returned from their day of relaxation, Katie noticed a note on the door of the house. It read, "Grab a drink and follow the light." Katie immediately ran back to the car and asked the girls what was going on. All they said was, you better follow directions! Katie entered their home where she found the Christmas tree lit and a series of tea lights on the floor creating a path to follow. Their song was playing on the record player and as Katie followed the light she was lead to Evan around the fireplace. At that time Katie was already crying and Evan began saying the sweetest words. The moment every girl dreams of, Evan gets down on a knee and asked, "Will you marry me?" Immediately Katie says YES!! The night was so magical and one they will never forget. The ring is truly one of a kind and has a touch of sentimental value that cannot be matched.
