We swiped right on a Sunday morning and had our first date for sushi that night. Katie hadn't even unpacked all of her boxes yet, having just moved to Las Vegas after spending her entire life in Connecticut and New York City. Eric had been living in Las Vegas for 18 years and was planning to move to Oregon in less than 2 months! Eric's opening line was to inform Katie of his dislike of people from the East Coast, with an emphasis on New Yorkers. But he was intrigued by her Bumble profile picture in a flannel shirt where it appeared she was filleting a fish she had caught on the beach in Nantucket. Truth: her cousin, Matt, had caught the fish and her mother was filleting and grilling it on the beach with her Aunt Lisa. Katie jumped in for the photo-op for her dating profile. The false advertising had them both laughing all night. The following day Eric asked if she wanted to be Katie Rockwell and sent her what became their song "I'll Never Stop" by Safety Suit. The sham fish picture was not wasted! Katie caught her trophy and Eric was hooked. Eric quickly realized he was in love with all things Northeast and Katie fell in love with camping and hunting, or rather all things Eric. Eric is country, Katie is city. Eric has a fear of sharks and prefers a lake and Katie loves a beach. Katie loves a Michelin starred restaurant and Eric moved a freezer for Elk meat right into her living room! Katie had never met a man with such patience, devotion, and kindness and Eric had found his soulmate and best friend. We truly know what it means to get lucky in Las Vegas and we are so thankful and blessed that it happened to us. We are excited to have the opportunity to bring our East and West coast families and friends together and are grateful to all of you for coming to join us to celebrate!
