Our story began with our sophomore year of college at the University of Toledo when we met through a mutual friend and lived down the hall from each other in the same dorm (I-House). We soon became part of the same group of friends and had various classes together. However, it wasn’t until our senior year that our friendship deepened and we became incredibly close. We began dating in July 2020 and spent a short time long distance while Dillon stayed in Toledo and Katie moved back in with her parents in Marion during Covid. During these 6 months apart we spent many weekends meeting each other halfway to spend time with each other. Katie eventually moved back to Toledo in January 2021 where we each had our own apartments for the first time - in the same apartment complex. We grew closer and our relationship strengthened as we began our careers in Toledo. In May 2023, Dillon proposed to Katie at Strawberry Acres park, the very place we had been walking the day that we started dating. Shortly after, we moved to Perrysburg and got our first apartment together. A year later Katie decided to take a new job at NiSource which led us to make the big move down to Columbus together. After only a couple months in Columbus, Dillon joined NiSource as well. We have now found our home in Reynoldsburg together with our two cats, Tater and Sweet Pea, and our dog, Echo. What started as a simple friendship between two college kids has grown into a once in a lifetime relationship built on laughter, support, comfort and love.
