We originally met back in 2013 at a mutual friend’s 21st birthday party. We lost touch after that and even though we unknowingly worked less than a mile away from each other for years. We didn’t reconnect until 2020. When that same mutual friend invited both of us to be apart of their Covid dirt biking crew.

In June 2024, we went on vacation to Maui. After a long day of hiking in the Haleakala National Park, we ended our day at the seven sacred pools. Which is a beautiful waterfall that descends water into seven pools until it finally reaches the ocean. As Katie was taking in the view, Derrik got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
